Shine light on all of the complexities, contradictions, and context that our understanding of health relies on in the study of biomedical ethics.

You will discover the ways cultural values and beliefs, public policies, infrastructure, institutions, and more inform health disparities across the world. Using a multi-disciplinary lens, you will seek new understandings of ways to solve health disparities and improve health outcomes in communities near and far.

Student Perspective

鈥淢y medical ethics courses and medical anthropology have both helped me be able to have knowledge on people鈥檚 backgrounds. [They taught me] how culture and health care intersect, and, being mindful of that, I am able to provide better care to the patients I do have. When I am out there in the field, I think back to lessons or discussions we had in class and I鈥檓 like, 鈥榃oah, this really applies here鈥.鈥
